Valentines vacations in the USA
While some argue that Valentine’s Day isn’t a real holiday, I think that taking a vacation over Valentine’s Day can bring you and your partner even closer than before. Besides, what makes people happier than love. Take a vacation for Valentine’s Day and make some life-long memories.
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is the ultimate nature and romantic get-away. There are two key areas of Yosemite Park, the valley and the rim. The valley has warm weather, streams for wading and kayaking. A few thousand feet higher, the rim features isolated trails and total nature immersion with some of the best views in the world. I would highly recommend staying at the Ahwahnee Hotel. This hotel is the definition of luxurious, featuring classical decoration as well as an astounding view of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, and Glacier Point. Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is an ideal romantic get-away. Charleston provides an unusual city experience. When I visited Charleston, I really enjoyed the old parts of the city. The old cobblestone roads are still intact in many places, as well as the 19th century houses. There are over 500 restaurants in Charleston, but the 2 that I ate at had excellent southern food such as fried chicken, fried okra, grits, and hush puppies. When you walk the streets of Charleston, it is easy to see into our country’s past, offering an exciting, and sometimes frightening experience that is truly unique. Jeckyll Island is a small island off the coast of Georgia. Slow down and take it easy for a few days on this deserted, southern get-away. Stay at the Jeckyll Island Club Hotel, and feel like 19th century royalty in the old, but ornate rooms. Enjoy learning the game of croquet on the hotel’s croquet courts. Have a relaxing day at the beach, complete with a hotel sponsored food stand right on the water. For dinner, check out Latitude 31˚ which offers a plethora of seafood and steak to fill any belly. Jeckyll Island is a summery, fun retreat from the fast-paced everyday life.
Bald Head Island
Bald Head Island is a beach lover’s paradise, with lots of unique amenities thrown in. One thing that’s a big deal is that there are no cars allowed on the island, so every house comes with a golf cart. You would be surprised at how much of a positive difference this one little feature makes. Each of the three beaches offers something different so plan accordingly. Last year, we stayed near Cape Fear, allowing access to both the east and south beaches, though we only went to the south beach once. Each house comes with an option to become a member of the Shoals Club, the Bald Head Island Club or both. I would recommend the Bald Head Island Club because it has a golf course, two dining rooms (depending on your budget) and three croquet courts, as well as a pool and a workout center. Its loads more than the Shoals Club, and its hardly costs any more per day. Make sure to visit Cape Fear and see the tumultuous current. Bald Head Island is the best place to enjoy the beach.
